JAKARTA - The National Police Headquarters sent troops and logistics to natural disaster locations in Aceh, West Sumatra and North Sumatra on Tuesday night, December 16, 2025.

"We are sending the police humanitarian forces and logistics to help our brothers and sisters in Aceh, West Sumatra and North Sumatra who are affected by natural disasters," said the National Police Chief of Staff, Inspector General Mohammad Fadil Imran in North Jakarta.

Komjen Fadil said that this activity was part of the implementation of Operation Safe Nusa 2 which ran in parallel with the 2026 Lilin Operation.

"The presence of the National Police at the disaster site is not just symbolic, we are not only coming to appear but actually coming to help, to solve problems," he said.

In an effort to deliver the aid, Komjen Fadil emphasized 3 main points, namely a quick and coordinated response.

"We are sending 75 units of vehicles including ambulances, logistics vehicles, field kitchens to trail motorcycles. Logistic assistance is important such as tents, generators, water treatment systems and ready-to-eat food. Health teams from the Pusdokkes Polri, ambulances and trained medical personnel," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the delivery of troops, Komjen Fadil explained that his party sent as many as 237 selected Polri personnel.

The details consist of 226 Brimob personnel, 2 accompanying officer personnel, 4 ambulance driver personnel and 5 Airud personnel who are ready to join in the field with TNI elements, BNPB, Basarnas and other civilian volunteers.

"This is a thickening of personnel who had previously been deployed as 1,999 personnel in 3 disaster-affected provinces," he said.

The second point is the focus on humanity and security.

"The presence of the National Police is not to maintain security, but also to provide a sense of comfort and tranquility. We want the community to know that the state is present and the National Police is present with empathy," he said.

Komjen Fadil instructed all personnel to be humanistic, solutif and collaborative.

"Because in the midst of a disaster, what the community needs is not only logistical assistance but a presence that is calming and encouraging," he said.

Then the third point is the continuation of efforts. Said Komjen Fadil, the assistance provided by the National Police on Tuesday night will continue.

"This is not a one-night operation, this is the beginning of a series of medium-term efforts that will be continuously monitored by the National Police, we don't want to just come and go. We want to ensure that every assistance is useful and sustainable. Until the community can rise again," he said.
