Member of the DPR Absent Again for the Corruption Trial of the Grand Mosque of Karanganyar, Will He Be Summoned?

JAKARTA - Former Karanganyar Regent Juliatmono twice failed to appear for a summons to be examined as a witness in the case of alleged corruption in the construction of the Karanganyar Grand Mosque at the Corruption Crime Court at the Semarang District Court, Central Java.

At the follow-up hearing in Semarang, Tuesday, December 16, the member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Golkar Party did not meet the second call issued by the public prosecutor.

At the previous hearing on December 2, 2025, Juliatmono also did not comply with the call to be examined as a witness.

At the hearing, which was chaired by Chief Judge Suryo Hendratmoko, only one witness from Bank BJB was examined regarding the loan to PT MAM Energindo, which was the executor of the construction project for the Karanganyar Grand Mosque.

Due to the absence of the witness Juliatmono, the judge still gave one opportunity for the public prosecutor to attend the trial.

"One more opportunity for the plaintiff to present a witness on January 6, 2026, then it's the defendant's legal advisor's turn to present a witness," he said, quoted by Antara.

Meanwhile, Public Prosecutor Tegar Djatikusumo said the summons letter for Juliatmono had been delivered a long time ago. However, through his lawyer, Juliatmono admitted that he could not fulfill the summons as a witness because he was assigned as a member of the DPR.

"From the person concerned, he attached a letter of assignment from the Golkar Faction to West Sumatra," he said.

According to him, the public prosecutor will try to present Juliatmono because his testimony is very important to hear.

Meanwhile, if at the third call Juliatmono does not meet the call, he continued, the public prosecutor has not been able to convey the next steps that will be taken.

When asked about the possibility of a forced summons against Juliatmono, Tegar said that it would still be coordinated with the Karanganyar Kejari team.

The case of alleged corruption in the construction of the Karanganyar Grand Mosque in 2020-2021 with a budget of Rp. 78.9 billion dragged four private parties and an ASN of the Karanganyar Regency Government as suspects.

In the public prosecutor's indictment, the former Regent of Karanganyar was also said to have received a number of money allegedly as a fee for the project.
