2 People Died Due to an Accident on the Bromo Line

Malang - The Malang Regional Police Traffic Unit (Polres) said that a single accident of a mobile sport utility vehicle (SUV) on the Wedi Ireng Slope, Ngadas, Malang Regency, East Java or the Bromo tourist route caused two passengers to die.

"Two victims who died were passengers of the vehicle," said Head of the Malang Police Traffic Unit AKP Muhammad Alif Chelvin Arliska, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 15.

The victims who died in this incident were ASI (70) and ASA (70).

Based on information from the local police, the victim with the initials ASI from Malang City, East Java was declared dead at the scene of the crime.

Meanwhile, the other three passengers and the driver of the SUV named ED (54) from Bandung were injured. The survivors were taken to Sumber Sentosa Tumpang Hospital, Malang Regency to receive intensive medical care.

"One other (ASA) died while being treated at the hospital," he said.

Chelvin explained that the fatal incident occurred at around 14.30 WIB. The car driven by ED and in the condition of carrying five passengers was stuck when driving on the Wedi Ireng Ramp which has a descending and steep contour from the direction of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park to Malang Regency.

The Malang Police Traffic Unit has carried out crime scene investigation, secured evidence, and further investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Based on the initial suspicion, the accident was caused by the failure of the braking function on the vehicle driven by ED.

"The driver then slammed the steering wheel to the right, but the vehicle actually got stuck and fell down the track," he said.
