Prabowo ensures that funds are ready, 2,000 houses and 50 Bailey bridges are built in disaster areas

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has ensured that the government has prepared the budget and concrete steps to handle disasters. The recovery of the affected areas is now entering the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase with clear targets.

The directive was conveyed by Prabowo at the Plenary Cabinet Meeting (SKP) at the State Palace, Monday, December 15. The President emphasized that the overall disaster situation was under control and was being monitored directly.

"The situation is under control. I continue to monitor. We will immediately form a body or task force for rehabilitation and reconstruction," said Prabowo.

The President ensured that the construction of housing for affected residents would begin immediately. He said the report from the Minister of Housing stated that the construction of 2,000 houses could begin this week and potentially become permanent housing immediately.

"Starting this Sunday we will build 2,000 houses. It is possible that it can immediately become a permanent house," he said.

Prabowo emphasized that the budget for disaster management was available through the state budget. According to him, the fiscal space is open thanks to the policy of efficiency and tightening budget leaks.

"Because of efficiency and leakage reduction, we have money now," said Prabowo.

In addition to the central budget, the government has channeled operational funds directly to the affected areas. Each governor receives Rp. 20 billion, while the regent and mayor in 52 affected districts/cities each receive Rp. 4 billion.

"Three days after the instruction, the funds have reached all districts," said Prabowo.

In terms of operations, the government has deployed thousands of heavy equipment and supporting facilities. At least 1,000 units of heavy equipment, trucks, excavators, clean water tanks, and portable toilets have been sent.

"50 bailey bridges are being worked on. Seven have been completed," said Prabowo.

He estimated that full recovery would take time. "About two to three months, activities can be completely normal," he concluded.
