The IPB University Board of Trustees (MWA) officially inaugurated Dr Alim Setiawan as an Inter-Time Substitute (PAW) for the Rector of IPB University for the remainder of the 2023 period 2028. The inauguration led by the Chairperson of the MWA IPB University, Prof Hardinsyah, at the Auditorium Andi Hakim Nasution, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (11/12), marks a new chapter of the campus leadership.
Dr Alim Setiawan (43 years), who replaced Prof. Arif Satria (now the Head of BRIN), officially became the youngest rector in the history of IPB University.
Born in Demak, February 27, 1982, Dr. Alim is a lecturer at the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Management, with expertise including strategic management, supply chain management, to agricultural marketing. He studied undergraduate and master in the IPB Agricultural Industry Technology Study Program, and earned a doctorate at Ehime University, Japan. Dr. Alim's career at IPB is quite long, he has served as Deputy Chancellor for Resources and Infrastructure Resilience (2023 2025).

Determination Towards Technopreneurial University
In his remarks, Dr. Alim Setiawan was determined to continue the foundations of the previous chancellor. He said that his leadership would be future-oriented, encourage leaps of innovation, and provide room for growth for the entire academic community.
"The growth in the family of teachers and farmers makes me understand that planting knowledge is the investment of the future. IPB is entering a new chapter towards technology universities within the framework of Agromaritim 5.0," he said in a statement, quoted by VOI, Friday, December 12, 2025.
