JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul conveyed temporary housing for flood and landslide victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra will be equipped with life insurance to support their daily economy.
"In temporary shelters, there will be life insurance. Meanwhile, they must be able to get economic support to be able to live on a daily basis, food is there, after that they enter empowerment," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 9.
He explained that based on the results of coordination with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), temporary housing will support the lives of refugees in at least one year, which will then be given permanent housing according to the conditions of each victim.
"Yesterday it was reported by the head of BNPB about the temporary residential planning, which is temporary for a year, at least a year, it could be two years. Next is a permanent residence that depends on the condition, in general, permanent housing is usually provided by the regions, then the one who builds is the state budget through BNPB," he said.
However, based on President Prabowo Subianto's instructions, if the region has difficulty providing land, it can use state lands.
"This one will be taken care of further. So there is temporary housing, there is permanent housing. After temporary housing can be provided, then we together with other ministries will enter for empowerment, starting from economic recovery, skills training, and business support. We will do this later after the temporary housing is completed," he said.
To speed up the handling of temporary housing, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) has prepared a stock of Healthy Simple Instant Houses (RISHA) that can be sent directly.
"In Medan, there are more than 400 units on standby and around 100 units in Bandung. If needed, we are ready to add as needed in the field," said PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait.
He said coordination across ministries and local governments would soon be carried out in accordance with the direction of the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
"We ensure that all steps are fast and coordinated, so that the affected people immediately get safe and decent housing," he said.
He has also sent three directors generals (dirjen) of the Ministry of PKP to check the houses of victims affected by the disaster in Sumatra.
