Social Minister Targets 36 Thousand Persons With Disabilities To Be Recipients Of MBG

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf stated that the free nutritious food program (MBG) for persons with disabilities will be targeted at 36,000 recipients, and given twice a day in the morning and afternoon in 2026.

"God willing, we will target this year at the beginning of around 36 thousand people with disabilities. We will give them food twice, morning and afternoon," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 8.

He emphasized that MBG for people with disabilities will be served by community groups as a fulfillment of nutrition and will be delivered to home as an inclusive public service.

"Which one is delivered. So, this will be delivered to each other's homes and the one serving is the community group. So, God willing, we will place village cadres who will hand over," he said.

The village cadres, according to him, will act properly to be causative, tasked with serving emotionally in addition to delivering food.

"Sending at the same time is causative. Also, he will pay attention, care, concern for people with disabilities and also the elderly," he said.

For the elderly themselves, Saifullah said that he would target 100,000 beneficiaries as part of the program's expansion.

"For the elderly, there are 100 thousand, and for people with disabilities 36 thousand," he said.

He emphasized that in accordance with the issuance of Presidential Instruction Number 4 of 2025 concerning National Sole Social Data on the National Economy which includes data on people with disabilities, in detail mapping the special needs of persons with disabilities, including the need for good nutrition through the MBG program.

"Because according to the President, if our data is valid, our data is in accordance with our wishes, then the program designed will be right on target and have an impact," he said.
