JAKARTA - Viral on social media the leak of a sea embankment in the Muara Baru area, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Thursday, December 4 morning. The leak of the embankment coincided with the tide which resulted in tidal flooding at a number of points.
Responding to this, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the sea water-retaining embankment is located in the Nizam Zachman Fishery Port area. Because of this, Pramono assessed that the maintenance of the embankment was the authority of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo).
"The leaking embankment in Muara Baru, which is currently viral in the Nizam Zachman area, is downstream from Pelindo. Actually, this is Pelindo's responsibility," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, December 4.
Several years ago, this embankment was indeed built by the DKI Provincial Government. However, in its development, the government has determined that the handling of the embankment area in Nizam Zachman is included in Pelindo's master plan.
However, Pramono revealed that the DKI Provincial Government is currently helping to make temporary repairs to the leaking embankment to reduce the impact of coastal flooding.
"The Jakarta government is helping to repair the leaks that occurred. Although it is actually not our responsibility, this is part of what we had planned beforehand, including those in Pelindo," he said.

Pramono revealed that the DKI Provincial Government next year will continue the construction of a giant sea embankment or Giant Sea Wall which is included in the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) project.
The plan is that in 2026, the DKI Provincial Government will continue to build embankments in the Pluit, Muara Angke, and Blencong River areas with a length of 1.2 kilometers.
"In 2026, we have budgeted to continue NCICD for Pluit with a length of 530 meters, Muara Angke 350 meters, Kali Lencong 750 meters. Next year approximately 1.2 kilometers," explained Pramono.
In NCICD planning, the DKI Provincial Government has an obligation to build a 28.2 kilometer sea embankment, the DKI Provincial Government has only completed 11.8 kilometers.
In addition to the DKI Provincial Government, some of the construction of Giant Sea Wall is also carried out by the central government, in this case the Ministry of Public Works.
Pramono hopes that the central government will immediately execute the part that is his responsibility in building the embankment. This is because this embankment is needed to minimize the impact of tidal flooding that often hit the coastal area of Jakarta.
"Hopefully, the responsibility of the central government will also be carried out immediately. Because this is indeed urgent to be done immediately," he added.
