The Sikka Police Professional and Security Division arrested Bripka Akmal Fajri Suksin, a police officer on duty at the Sikka Police Polairud for allegedly molesting a woman while drunk using a weapons popor.
Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Henry Novika Chandra, said the arrests made on Sunday (31/11) last night were a full commitment to maintaining the professionalism and integrity of the institution.
Henry explained that this incident occurred in Uneng City Village, Alok District, Sikka Regency on Sunday (31/11) afternoon, when a woman named Hartina (29) reported to the Sikka Police Propam Unit for being abused by Bripka Akmal Fajri Suksin, a member of the Sikka Police Unit.
Kombes Henry Novika Chandra, explained that the victim's report was received at around 17.00 WITA. Not long after, the Propam Unit went straight to the scene.
"Once the report was received, Propam came to the crime scene, secured members, and ensured that the official firearms were confiscated from the hands of the perpetrators. This shows the Police's commitment to act quickly, decisively, and transparently," he said.
From the results of the examination, it was found that he was drunk, the perpetrator carried an SS1 long-barreled weapon and hit the victim using a weapons popor, causing bruises on the victim's middle finger.
The perpetrator also attacked the victim's brother and damaged the door of the house.
Propam members who arrived at the location immediately controlled the situation, took over the weapon, and finally managed to paralyze and take the perpetrator to the Sikka Police.
"The NTT Police really appreciate the public's courage to report. Every report must be followed up according to the provisions," said Kombes Henry.
Perpetrators and official weapons have now been secured for further investigation. The Sikka Police Propam Unit ensures that this case is processed through the Police Professional Disciplinary/Ethical Code, including possible criminal acts.
Kombes Henry emphasized that the perpetrator's actions did not reflect the institution, and that the National Police would not cover up the members' mistakes.
"We make sure that every member who violates, especially in a drunken condition and commits violence, will be processed firmly without compromise. The Police are here to protect, not hurt the community," he said.
The National Police continues to strengthen internal supervision to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
On the other hand, Henry said the quick steps taken by the Sikka Police Propam were seen as a tangible manifestation of the Police's commitment to maintaining public trust.
"This is proof that the internal control system is running. Propam is present not only as an actioner, but as an institutional marwah guard," added the Head of Public Relations.
