Police Are Investigating Allegations Of Negligence In The Case Of The Death Of A Boy At The Jambi Merdeka Square Play Arena

JAKARTA - The Kerinci Resort Police (Polres) investigated allegations of negligence resulting in the death of a 4-year-old child in a balloon palace commercial playing arena located in Merdeka Square, Pondok Tinggi Village, Sungai Penuh City, Jambi Province, Sunday, November 30.

"Investigators have examined TKP (the crime scene), installed police lines, asked witnesses for statements, collected initial medical documents, and examined the owner of the vehicle," said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kerinci Police, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Very Prasetyawan in Kerinci, Monday, confiscated by Antara.

He said that currently the case of child death in the playground is still under investigation, including tracing elements of negligence or other crimes in the incident.

"Investigative steps have been taken," he added.

The child's death occurred on Sunday, November 30 at around 21.00 WIB. The victim had the initials G (4), male gender, a resident of Karya Bakti Village, Pondok Tinggi District, Sungai Penuh City.

Based on the chronology, G's death began when the owner of the playing arena at the FJ balloon palace (41), closed the playground by compressing the balloon palace without conducting a thorough examination of the condition of the balloon inside.

Moments after the balloon was folded, the victim's parents came looking for their previously known child playing in the arena.

The owner then reopened the balloon folds and found the victim unconscious. The victim was immediately rushed to Sungai Penuh Hospital. During the examination, the victim was declared dead.

"We express our condolences for this tragedy. To all managers of children's rides, we remind them to apply safety standards and ensure that arena conditions are completely safe before and after use," he said.
