JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development (IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said the government had sent aid to people who were victims of disasters and also repaired vital infrastructure affected by floods and landslides in Sumatra.

"Yes, it has been done," said Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, who is familiarly called AHY, answering media questions regarding the delivery of infrastructure improvement assistance to Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra in connection with the 2025 Indonesian Foreign Policy (CIFP) in Jakarta, Saturday.

He said President Prabowo Subianto was very following developments in disaster management that hit three provinces in Sumatra. The central government also knows that several cities/districts are categorized as paralyzed due to the breakdown of communication and logistics lines.

Therefore, said AHY, evacuating people from dangerous places is a priority.

"We want to ensure the first human rescue, medical evacuation but also logistical drop because many have been cut off once again," he said.

After the community evacuation is carried out, he continued, then infrastructure improvements begin. AHY detailed that the Ministry of Public Works is given the task of placing and sending heavy equipment to help quickly deal with landslides or floods while repairing facilities.

The first stage is the disaster emergency response to save residents but after that we also mapped it, because it is not every time it is easy that the condition can be carried out immediately. However, of course, as soon as possible we will send the necessary equipment, materials as well as officers in the field so that they can do it quickly," he said.

Meanwhile, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the government had reacted and moved quickly in sending aid since the beginning of the flash floods and landslides that occurred in three provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.

The President explained that the government had sent aid to victims by land and air. However, the condition of the field affected by the disaster was very heavy because many access was cut off, causing helicopters and aircraft to land difficult.

The government has also dispatched three Hercules C-130 aircraft and an A-400 aircraft from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, on Friday (28/11) morning, to send aid.

The President explained that the assistance sent on Friday was not the first time, and aid would also continue to be delivered according to the needs in the field.
