A number of cities and districts in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra Provinces on Tuesday (25/11) were hit by flash floods and landslides which resulted in more than a hundred people dying, hundreds of other residents still missing, as well as access to transportation, electricity, and communication cut off.

"As of today, the government has sent a total of 11 TNI and Basarnas helicopters from Jakarta to locations for disaster-affected areas. A total of nine helicopters have been at the location since November 26, 2025, and two helicopters have flown to Aceh from Jakarta this morning," said Seskab Teddy as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 29.

Teddy explained that the helicopters were continuously being operated to distribute aid to disaster sites, especially remote areas and areas whose land routes were cut off due to flash floods and landslides.

"These helicopters fly around the disaster site to continuously distribute logistics, especially in the deepest areas and in areas where land routes are cut off," said Teddy.

Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto on Friday (28/11), announced temporary data on victims due to flash floods and landslides in three provinces of Sumatra, namely 174 fatalities, 79 missing residents and 12 injured.

Of that number, which is data as of November 28, 2025, 116 people died and 42 people were missing in the North Sumatra region.

In North Tapanuli, the death toll was 11 people, Central Tapanuli 51 people, South Tapanuli 32 people, Sibolga City 17 people, Humbang Hasundutan Regency 6 people, Padang Sidempuan City 1 person, and West Pakpak 2 people.

"Of course this data will continue to develop, (because) there are still points that have not been penetrated. What is indicated at the landslide location may also be casualties," said Suharyanto during a press conference at Silangit Airport, North Tapanuli, North Sumatra, Friday (28/11).

Meanwhile, data on victims in Aceh Province as of November 28, including 35 residents who died, 25 residents were declared missing, and 8 people were injured. Most of the victims came from Bener Meriah Regency, Southeast Aceh Regency, and Central Aceh Regency.

Until now, data collection is still ongoing in a number of areas such as East Aceh, Aceh Singkil, and North Aceh.

"This will continue to develop data," said Suharyanto.

Then, Suharyanto said that as of November 28, 2025, the number of victims in West Sumatra, namely 23 people died, 12 people were declared missing, and 4 people were injured. The disaster victims in West Sumatra are scattered in Padang Panjang, Tanah Datar, Agam, Padang City, and West Pasaman.

Suharyanto continued that the number of refugees in West Sumatra currently stands at 3,900 families.

"There are 3,900 families recorded refugees. The worst are in Padang Pariaman, Tanah Datar, Solok Regency and Padang City," said the Head of BNPB.
