Police Alert 87,924 Personnel To Face Potential Natural Disasters

The National Police said as many as 87,924 personnel had been alerted to deal with all potential natural disasters, including those in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"For the number of Polda that has been held, this is also backed up with the National Police Headquarters and also the surrounding police who are agglomeration so that simultaneously all of them, this is a total of 87,924 Polri personnel who have been alerted to face all potential threats of natural disasters," said Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko in South Tangerang, Banten, Saturday, November 29, as reported by ANTARA.

He said the Aceh Regional Police had prepared 4,550 personnel, the North Sumatra Regional Police alerted 1,754 personnel, and from the West Sumatra Regional Police 2,743 personnel were alerted.

This preparedness is inseparable from the holding of disaster emergency response rally activities simultaneously throughout Indonesia last month.

"The National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has held disaster emergency response readiness last month, as many as 155,000 Polri personnel simultaneously throughout Indonesia," he said.

Apart from personnel, the National Police also dispatched a number of ships and helicopters. Some of these ships, including the Kutilang 5005 Police Ship (KP) and KP PENT 5011.

The National Police also dispatched a K-9 SAR team from the National Police Headquarters and the Regional Police to search for missing victims.

"K-9 SAR was involved when there were reports of victims who were still missing from the impact of this disaster. Of course this is based on an analysis that will be carried out in the field. Then, the testimony of the point where the last victim was seen or located, and how to move rather than the geographical nature or weather that occurred at that time," he said.

Not only that, the National Police also prepared a field kitchen for the refugees.

"There are 28 field kitchens by the Sabhara Police Corps which are coordinated to provide services, especially food raw materials and basic and daily necessities for the community," said Trunoyudo.

On Saturday morning, the National Police sent food, logistics, and rescue equipment for disaster-affected communities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

The assistance was sent using two Fokker and CN police aircraft. The assistance sent includes urgent needs for affected residents, especially vulnerable groups, such as mothers and children.

In addition to logistics, the National Police through the National Police Health Center also sent medicines and a health team.
