NAGAN RAYA Officers from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, evacuated dozens of residents in the Ujung Lamie area, Darul Makmur District who were trapped in floods, today.
"Alhamdulillah, we have successfully evacuated 40 people," said the Coordinator of the Nagan Raya BPBD, Agussalim, to ANTARA, Friday, November 28 afternoon.
He explained that the evacuation was carried out after his party received reports of residents trapped in floods with water levels of 1.3 meters to 1.5 meters around settlements.
The evacuation process used a rubber boat belonging to BPBD and was assisted by the surrounding community. According to Agussalim, the quick step was taken to save residents from the threat of flooding due to overflowing river water.
However, some residents still choose to stay at home while waiting for the water to recede.
