Landslides Over Situbondo Residents, BPBD Establishes Emergency Tents To Prevent Susulants

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) set up an emergency tent at the Situbondo landslide site to anticipate further disasters after a day earlier a resident was buried by landslides.

Landslides hit a resident's house in Krajan Hamlet, Alastengah Village, Sumbermalang District on Monday, November 24 afternoon, resulting in a resident being buried and rescued.

"Under the house that was hit by a landslide yesterday, there were three more houses that were prone to landslides, therefore today we set up an emergency tent," said Head of BPBD Situbondo Regency, Sruwi Hartanto in Situbondo, Tuesday, confiscated by Antara.

According to him, an emergency tent was established because the area had the potential for further landslides after a landslide had previously occurred and hit a resident's house until it was heavily damaged and a resident was injured as a result of being buried.

From a disaster risk study conducted by BPBD Situbondo, continued Sruwi, in Alastengah Village, Sumbermalang District, Situbondo, it is prone to landslides.

"There are three areas prone to landslides, namely in Sumbermalang District, Arjasa District, and in Jatibanteng District. The area is a hill that has a steep slope," he said.

For the handling of landslide victims that occurred last Monday, said Sruwi Hartanto, BPBD has sent a team for rehabilitation and construction to conduct an assessment.

"We sent a team to conduct an assessment, calculate losses from the impact of the landslide that hit Akiman's house in Alastengah Village," he said.

Previously, the landslide that hit Akiman's house (60) occurred on Monday afternoon at around 14.30 WIB. Hosnainah's victim, Akiman's son, was buried by an avalanche while trying to save himself after knowing the 15 meter high cliff beside his house had collapsed.

Before the cliff beside the landslide victim's house, the area was hit by heavy rain since 13.00 WIB and at 14.30 WIB the cliff was 15 meters high and 20 meters long and the width of the two meters landslide hit Akiman's house.

At the time of the incident Akiman and his wife were in the field and at home only his daughter Hosnainah was buried by the landslide.

Local residents who rescued the victim immediately took him to the local health center for medical treatment.
