JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has carried out a number of handling steps to respond to the increase in cases of violence against women and children this year. The increase in cases was recorded to be higher than the previous year.
Special Staff to the Governor of DKI Jakarta for Social Communication Chico Hakim explained that the handling policy was carried out thoroughly by involving related agencies, ministries, and the community.
Chico explained that the Women and Children Protection Center (PPPA) has handled thousands of victims of safety cases so far this year, including efforts to accelerate response through data integration.
"At the Women and Children Protection Center (PPPA), there are 24-hour services for 1,698 victims as of October, including counseling, medical, legal, and reintegration. Integration of data between agencies accelerates response, with a zero target of tolerance for sexual violence," Chico told reporters, Monday, November 24.
The DKI Provincial Government, continued Chico, also held a Campaign campaign for 16 Anti-Violence Day on November 25, December-10 to increase public awareness and encourage reporting of cases of violence.
"This campaign involves socialization in 267 urban villages. This encourages reporting via hotline 112 or JakLingko app," said Chico.
At the RW level, the DKI Provincial Government has carried out an early warning system to detect potential violence since the early stages of June 2025. The provincial government has also added protection facilities and expanded patrols through the task force.
"It was carried out by establishing a Protection House and Task Force. Encouraging RP3 (women workers' protection house) in the work environment, plus the Jakarta Guard Task Force for patrols and monitoring," he said.
In this case, Chico explained the five main factors that triggered violence, based on the identification of the Ministry of PPPA and reports from the DKI Jakarta Department of Child Protection and Population Control (DPAPP).
"The factors behind violence against children and women include economic factors, family parenting, negative impacts on gadgets and digital media, social environmental factors, as well as early childhood marriage and gender inequality," Chico explained.
