51 Teenagers Ticketed, 56 Motorcycles Secured In Situbondo Wild Racing Raid

SITUBONDO - The Situbondo Resort Police Traffic Unit, East Java, has secured 56 motorcycles from the location of illegal racing, which has been troubling the public.

Head of Traffic Unit of the Situbondo Police, AKP Nanang Hendra Irawan, said that the police had secured dozens of motorbikes on Jalan Raya, Duwet Village, Panarukan District, which had been a place for youth to do illegal racing.

"Yesterday afternoon we received information or complaints from the public regarding illegal racing, and deployed a number of personnel for control," said Nanang, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 24.

According to AKP Nanang, previously residents complained about the activities of a group of youths who often carried out reckless actions on the village road, because apart from causing noise, the illegal racing action also endangered other road users.

He said that when officers came to the location they found dozens of teenagers who were modifying their motorbikes to be driven on the highway.

"Our officers took action against 51 violators with a ticket, and secured 56 motorbikes, including 5 motorbikes left by their owners when officers came to the location," said Nanang.

The control of illegal racing actions, he continued, is a form of quick response to public unrest and efforts to reduce the number of traffic accidents.

"We have received many complaints from the public regarding illegal racing actions on Jalan Desa Duwet, and this action is carried out to maintain mutual safety and ensure that roads are not used for dangerous activities," said Nanang.

He added that officers in addition to taking action also provide education and appeals to teenagers not to repeat illegal racing activities.

"We also invite parents to supervise the use of motorized vehicles in their children," said AKP Nanang.
