JAKARTA - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Sugiono emphasized the importance of restoring the needs and dignity of the Palestinian people, while attending the 2025 Palestinian Donor Group Ministerial Meeting in Brussels, Belgium.

Speaking in a forum chaired with EU Commissioner for the Mediterranean Embassy Dubravka Badica and Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on Thursday, Foreign Minister Sugiono said his party welcomed the discussion of strengthening donor coordination for Gaza reconstruction.

The Indonesian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of inclusive, community-oriented recovery, and restoring the dignity of the Palestinian people, quoted from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, Saturday, November 22.

Regarding the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Indonesian Foreign Minister stressed that it must be real and permanent, in order to be the first step towards humanitarian recovery and the realization of an independent Palestinian State based on a two-state solution.

He said the humanitarian situation in Gaza remained worrying even though a ceasefire agreement had been reached. Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that an effective recovery could only be achieved if any humanitarian aid and reconstruction and development processes, always centered on the Government and the Palestinian people.

This PDG meeting also discussed the UN Security Council's Resolution on Gaza which was adopted on November 17, 2025. The Ministers highlighted the need for a clear and effective implementation mechanism so that the Resolution could encourage the realization of Palestinian independence and peace.

"We need to ensure that there is a clear UN mandate for peacekeeping missions, in accordance with international law and parameters agreed together by all parties," said Foreign Minister Sugiono.

The PDG meeting was attended by EU member countries, partners in the region, and various international institutions. The meeting also focused on the Palestinian Authority's reform agenda, as well as support for Gaza's recovery and economic development in the West Bank.
