Khofifah Leads The Handling Of The Impact Of The Semeru Hot Clouds

East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa together with Lumajang Regent Indah Amperawati reviewed the impact of the hot clouds falling from Mount Semeru in Lumajang/ANTARA/HO-Biro Adpim East Java Provincial Government

East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa moved quickly and went directly to lead the handling of the impact of the Mount Semeru hot cloud (APG) in Lumajang Regency.

Khofifah visited a number of locations affected by APG Semeru, starting from the evacuation point in Pronojiwo District, precisely at SDN 4 Supiturang, visiting the public kitchen, Sumbersari Village, and Gladak Perak bridge.

"Indeed, the eruption has ended but the status is still Alert, so we continue to prepare for disaster management and ensure that all residents are in a safe condition," he said in Lumajang as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, November 20.

According to him, based on the latest developments in the volcanic activity of Mount Semeru, the flood vibrations were not recorded and the eruption ended, but the status of Alert was still enforced.

During the eruption, there were two areas of evacuation locations for residents. In Pronojiwo District, residents fled to several places such as the Oro-Oro Ombo Village Hall, SDN 04 Supiturang, Ar-Rahmah Mosque in Oro-Oro Ombo Village, and Nurul Jadid Mosque in Supiturang Village.

Meanwhile, in Candipuro District, residents fled to Penanggal Village Hall, SDN 02 Sumberurip, Candipuro District Office, and the house of the Head of Sumbermujur Village.

Based on data from the East Java BPBD as of Thursday at 05.40 WIB, the total number of refugees spread across several places in both Pronojiwo and Candipuro sub-districts amounted to approximately 346 people.

"One of the main focuses of the government is strengthening health for disaster victims. Currently, most of the displaced residents have returned to their homes, but some are still surviving," he said.

He explained that his party maximized the gathering points for refugees and that the puskesmas had also gone to the refugee camps because they needed to strengthen the health team so that each one was monitored properly.

"Sometimes they are in certain psychological positions. For example, tension increases, or maybe ARI. So, for this acute respiratory tract, inspection and handling processes must also be intensified," he said.

Khofifah praised the feasibility of the refugee camps where her health posts tend to be active and the division between children's spaces, the elderly, and the family is quite strategic.

Khofifah also took the time to talk with the public and asked about what needs to be met and to the children present, distributing toy packages that could entertain them.

It is known that the Regent of Lumajang Indah Amperawati has determined the Emergency Response Status for the Eruption of Mount Semeru for 7 days with the Lumajang Regent's Decree Number 100.3.3.2/595/KEP/427.12/2025.
