Extreme Weather Hits Bogor, 75 Residents' Houses In Two Districts Damaged

Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds hit the Bogor area, West Java, Tuesday afternoon, November 18 and damaged dozens of houses in two sub-districts.

A total of 75 houses were affected, 35 houses each in Rumpin District and 40 houses in Ciseeng District.

Ciseeng District Officers reported that at least 40 houses suffered minor to severe damage. This number is estimated to still increase because the data collection process is still ongoing.

Damage also occurred in Sukasari Village, Rumpin District, which is directly adjacent to the Ciseeng area. Temporary data noted 35 houses were damaged, including a number of houses that were badly damaged.

Head of BPD Sukasari Village Muhammad Ridwan said the worst damage occurred in Janlapa Village RT 02/03.

"The damage is generally on the roof, three of which have damaged all of the roofs," Muhammad Ridwan explained to reporters.

He added that the number of damaged houses may increase as data collection is still being carried out.

The sub-district officials together with village officials are still verifying the damage. The affected residents reportedly began to clean and repair the house independently while waiting for assistance from the local government.

Extreme weather that is increasingly occurring in the Bogor area is a serious concern, considering that the area often experiences tornadoes and high intensity rain.
