KPK Defends Kasatgas Rossa Purbo Who Was Reported To The Council: Investigations Are Going Well

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that the investigation into alleged corruption in road projects in North Sumatra Province was going well. From investigation to prosecution, nothing has been covered up or tried to hinder it.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo when asked about the reporting of one of the heads of the task force (kasatgas), Rossa Purbo Bekti to the KPK Supervisory Board by the Indonesian Student Activist Coalition (KAMI) today, November 17. Rossa is considered to have obstructed the summons of North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution.

"We assure you that the investigation, investigation and prosecution process related to the case is going well," Budi told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, November 17.

Budi also said that so far a number of witnesses and searched many locations to strengthen evidence of bribery from hand arrest operations (OTT). All of these findings will later be presented in court.

"And from these searches the team also found other facts, there are allegations that conditioning practices in the procurement of goods and services, especially related to infrastructure, are also suspected to occur in other locuss (locations)," said Budi.

Meanwhile, Yusril SK as the Coordinator of KITA said the report was made because Rossa as the Kasatgas allegedly hampered the investigation into the involvement of North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution in the bribery case of a road project that ensnared his subordinates. Thus, the independence of the KPK became questionable.

"There are allegations that related to this case, one of the Head of the KPK Task Force allegedly on behalf of AKBP Rossa Purba Bekti," Yusril told reporters at the ACLC building or the KPK Council office, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta.

"Therefore, we, the Indonesian Student Activist Coalition, today provide information and reports," he continued.

"WE, still said Yusril, are demanding the KPK to conduct an evaluation. And a total internal audit," he said.

According to Yusril, it is appropriate for the KPK Council to examine Rossa. This is because there are many indications of Bobby's involvement as the son-in-law of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the bribery case of a road project in North Sumatra.

Similarly, Usman as our Secretary also mentioned that Bobby should be examined.

"But to this day what KPK friends have done today has not summoned Bobby Nasution himself," he said at the same location.

"So today we are present in front of the KPK council and at the same time submit a report against one of the KPK's task forces to question the independence of the KPK," he continued.

As previously reported, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Zararah Azhim Syah said the head of the task force (kasatgas) for KPK investigators in the bribery case for the North Sumatra Province road project did not dare to examine Bobby Nasution as Governor of North Sumatra. This statement is based on the results of the mass media investigation.

"KPK investigators have even proposed to the head of the task force handling this case to investigate Bobby. However, none of the three heads of the task force dared to check on Bobby," Zararah said after carrying out the action at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, November 14.

Zararah did not reveal who the task force was. However, from the various information gathered, one of those who took part in handling this case was Rossa Purbo Bekti as a senior investigator.

Zararah hopes that the KPK will immediately investigate Bobby's involvement in the road project corruption case in North Sumatra. Moreover, the Medan Corruption Court Panel of Judges has asked Bobby to be presented at the trial.

The development of this case, he said, must also be carried out like other corruption allegations. Do not let the impression that the KPK is afraid of Bobby Nasution.

"For example, in the E-KTP case, the former Menpora corruption case was also developed from the facts at trial," he said.

"So it should be in this case, if there are new clues from the trial, the KPK should develop a case like that. So open new cases. Well, let alone develop cases but just to check Bobby doesn't dare like that," he continued.
