The police revealed that three active bombs that did not have time to explode in the explosion incident at SMAN 72 Jakarta, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Friday, November 7, had been successfully unraveled and are now evidence.
"Information from the Bomb Disposal Team (Jibom), the three bombs have now been decomposed and become evidence at the National Police Headquarters Laboratory," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto in a written statement, Jakarta, Sunday, November 16, 2025.
He explained that the perpetrator, who was a child in conflict with the law (ABH), first suffered injuries due to an initial explosion that occurred in the school area. This condition prevented the perpetrator from triggering the other bomb axis.
"Yes, that's right, (the perpetrator was quickly injured)," he said.
Police are currently still waiting for the results of the Forensic Laboratory examination regarding explosives components, explosive power levels, and alleged sources of knowledge of the perpetrators in assembling the homemade bomb.
Previously, an explosion occurred during Friday's prayer sermon at two points within SMAN 72, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on November 7, 2025. The incident resulted in dozens of people being injured, some of whom suffered burns.
From the results of the examination, the police found seven bombs in two different locations in the school area.
