Prabowo Rehabilitation Of 2 North Luwu Teachers Who Were Fired For Collecting Contributions For Honorary

JAKARTA President Prabowo Subianto gave rehabilitation to two ASN teachers in North Luwu, South Sulawesi, who had been fired and sentenced to one year in prison by the Supreme Court for collecting contributions to help pay the salaries of 10 honorary teachers. In fact, the levy was carried out with the approval of the school committee.

The rehabilitation letter for two teachers of SMAN 1 Masamba, Abdul Muis and Rasnal, was signed directly by President Prabowo in the waiting room of Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base VVIP, Jakarta, Thursday, November 13 in the morning, shortly after arriving from a state visit in Sydney, Australia.

In the signing, the President was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. After signing the rehabilitation letter, Prabowo greeted Abdul Muis and Rasnal as a sign of respect and moral support.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, explained that this process began with public aspirations that went viral on social media. "Pak Abdul Muis and Pak Rasnal were escorted to the South Sulawesi DPRD, then forwarded to the DPR RI. After coordinating with the Minister of State Secretary, we took them to Halim to meet the President. Thank God, tonight the official rehabilitation letter was signed," said Dasco, in his statement, Thursday, November 13.

Meanwhile, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi hopes that the decision will be a restoration of the good name and a symbol of justice for the teaching profession. "Hopefully this decision will provide a sense of justice, not only for our teachers in North Luwu, but also throughout Indonesia," he said.

He emphasized the importance of protecting the teaching profession. Teachers are heroes without a sign of service. They must be respected and protected. If there is a problem, we will solve it in a good way," said Prasetyo.

Previously, Abdul Muis and Rasnal were fired by the Governor of South Sulawesi on October 4 and August 21, 2025, respectively. The dismissal was related to levies of IDR 20,000 from parents in 2018 to help pay honorary teachers' salaries which were delayed by up to 10 months.

The case was then reported by NGOs to the police and resulted in a one-year prison sentence at the cassation level. However, the public considers the actions of the two teachers as a form of solidarity, not a crime, because it was done to help fellow educators.

President Prabowo's move was welcomed positively by the public and educators, who considered the decision as a form of partiality to justice and appreciation for teacher dedication.
