JAKARTA - Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa stressed Israel's demands for demilitarization of the southern region of Damascus to the Golan Heights could cause chaos in the region and create additional threats to the Jewish state.
"Talking about the demilitarization of the entire region will be difficult, because if chaos occurs, who will protect it? If this demilitarized zone is used by some parties as a basis for attacking Israel, who will be responsible?" said al-Sharaa as quoted by TASS, Wednesday, November 12.

"This is Syrian territory, and Syria should have the freedom to manage their own territory," said al-Sharaa.
