24 Hours Ultimatum From Regent, Illegal Mining In Central Bangka Must Lift Equipment

BANGKA - The Central Bangka Regency Government, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, together with Forkopimda, PT Timah Tbk, PLN, and a number of related agencies stopped mining activities without (illegal) permits in the Special Mining Business Permit (WIUPK) area belonging to PT Timah Tbk.

Central Bangka Regent Algafry Rahman said control was carried out persuasively at a number of points such as Merbuk, Kenari, and Pungguk.

"We will give miners until Thursday to stop activities and lift all mining equipment from that location," he said in Koba, Antara, Wednesday, November 12.

This step, said Algafry, is part of efforts to maintain order and legal certainty in mining areas, while ensuring all mining activities run according to regulations.

According to him, the three regions were officially included in the WIUPK owned by PT Timah Tbk, so the company was asked to complete all administrative and licensing aspects so that mining activities were carried out legally.

"The Central Bangka Regency Government and Forkopimda are ready to support PT Timah to obtain legal legitimacy in the region," said Algafry.

He also appealed to the public not to be involved in mining without a permit because it risks causing legal problems and environmental damage.

"Local governments continue to open spaces for dialogue so that people who depend on mining can be directed to more sustainable economic activities," he said.

Meanwhile, PT Timah Tbk stated that it is ready to coordinate with local governments to regulate mining areas and ensure that all operational activities run according to regulations.
