Active Camat In Anambas Kepri Uses Methamphetamine In The Workspace, 2 Suppliers Arrested

The Indonesian National Police have uncovered a criminal act of drug abuse and illicit trafficking involving the Central Siantan sub-district head, Anambas Islands Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri).

The Head of the Anambas Islands Regency Police, AKBP I Gusti Ngurah Agung Budianaloka, said that the disclosure of this case began with the arrest of A (57), an active sub-district head in the central Siantan area.

"We caught him while consuming methamphetamine in his office," said Gusti in a written statement confirmed from Batam, Tuesday, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that A's arrest was made on Friday 7 November at 23.23 WIB at the Central Siantan sub-district office.

During the operation, Anambas Police Narcotics Unit personnel raided the Central Siantan sub-district head office, finding A using methamphetamine with a suction device (bong).

"From the location we found a package of methamphetamine weighing 0.23 grams wrapped in clear plastic and tissue," he said.

Investigators then secured A and carried out an intensive examination at the Anambas Police Headquarters.

Based on A's confession, the methamphetamine he consumed was obtained from the perpetrator with the initials E (43), a resident of Air Asuk Village, Central Siantan District.

The Anambas Police Narcotics Unit team, he continued, then carried out developments and succeeded in arresting E on Saturday morning, November 8 at his home.

"From E's hands, we secured two packages of methamphetamine weighing 1.08 grams," he said.

Then, urine tests were carried out on both of them at the Tarempa Hospital, and the results showed positive for containing amphetamine and methamphetamine.

Based on the results of the development, investigators arrested the third perpetrator with the initials D (29), who works as a fisherman from Mujan Village, East Siantan District, on Saturday, November 8 afternoon at 18.30 WIB.

Contacted separately, the Head of the Narcotics Unit of the Anambas Police, Iptu Kristian, added that the arrest of the Central Siantan sub-district head began with information from the public received by his party.

From the results of the examination, information was obtained that the Central Siantan sub-district head had bought crystal methamphetamine four times through suspect E.

"At the time of the raid, he (Camat-ed) bought two packages of methamphetamine from E for Rp330 thousand. It has been used, the rest is what we managed to secure as evidence," he said.

Kristian emphasized that his party is still investigating this case, because it is suspected of involving a drug trafficking network syndicate in Anambas Regency.

Currently, the sub-district head and two other perpetrators have been named as suspects, and are charged with several articles related to Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Drugs.
