Disappearing A Year, Student Persecutor When Yogyakarta Sarkem Finally Arrested By Police

The police arrested a man with the initials BSY (26), the alleged perpetrator of student abuse in the Jalan Army Student area, Jetis, Yogyakarta City, after being on the run for a year.

The Head of the Jetis Police, Kompol Sumalugi, said that the perpetrator, who is a resident of Gowongan, Jetis, was arrested at his home after previously being on the wanted list (DPO).

"The suspect at the time before he was arrested did disappear. When he was summoned by investigators and we looked for him at home or at places where he used to hang out, there were no perpetrators," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 10.

The persecution incident occurred on September 7, 2024, at around 07.00 WIB at a shop, Bumijo area, Jetis, Yogyakarta City.

The incident began when the victim and a friend were karaoke in the Kembang Market (Sarkem) area. At the entertainment venue, the victim accidentally bumped into the perpetrator, triggering an argument and a beating took place against the victim.

"Actually, when the incident at karaoke can be resolved, it means that it has agreed that the problem will not be prolonged," he said.

Even though it has been resolved, said Sumalugi, the perpetrator and his colleague are still following the victim after leaving the place.

The victim, who was riding with his friend, fell around the tracks on HOS Cokroaminoto Street when the perpetrator was chased. From there, the perpetrator then took the victim to a shop in Bumijo, Jetis.

"At that location, the victim actually asked, because the karaoke problem had already been resolved. But instead by the perpetrator, the victim was beaten again using knok until he suffered a wound on his forehead," he said.

The victim, who suffered a torn wound on his forehead along about a centimeter, then underwent treatment at the Panti Rapih Hospital and reported the incident to the police.

From the results of the investigation, the police secured evidence in the form of a post-mortem, while the knok equipment used by the perpetrators is still being searched.

"The method is because the perpetrator feels dongkol, even though previously he had agreed to peace," said Sumalugi.

The police charged the suspect with Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code (KUHP) concerning persecution with a penalty of two years and eight months.

BSY, said Sumalugi, is also known to be a recidivist of a similar case.

"Currently we have detained the suspect, and the case file has been transferred to the public prosecutor for investigation," said Sumalugi.
