JAKARTA - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemns the draft Israeli law that will impose the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners.

The OIC considers the policy to violate the principles of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, and a number of United Nations (UN) resolutions.

"These discriminatory and illegal Israeli law are clearly against international norms," said the official OKI statement quoted by ANTARA from WAFA, Wednesday, November 5.

The organization calls on the international community to take responsibility for stopping all Israeli violations and providing international protection for the Palestinian people.

On October 29, the OIC also condemned Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip that killed more than 100 Palestinians.

The OIC assessed that the Zionist attack with most of its victims was children and that the women were a real violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The OIC also urged the international community to pressure Israel to comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law, maintain a ceasefire and allow humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip.
