Deputy Governor of Banten, Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah, denied the practice of nepotism in the inauguration of his younger brother, Raden Berli Rizki Nata Kusumah, as Head of the Banten Province Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda).
He emphasized that the appointment of Berli was carried out through a merit-based selection process and strict talent management within the Banten Provincial Government.
"Oh yes, if he doesn't work properly, just remove it. I want him to work optimally, don't be embarrassing. If he's not good, it's me who's embarrassed," Dimyati said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 3.
Dimyati explained that his younger brother had a long career in the Banten Provincial Government and had a strong bureaucratic track record.
"He was in the province from the start, not moved from the regency or city. The Basic is from the Bureau of Finance, then the Secretary of Bapenda, then the Acting Head of the PMPD Service (The Department of Community Empowerment and Village Government). So this is not nepotism, but purely a career process," he said.
He admitted that he would be more comfortable if no family worked in the same institution as him.
"Actually, I prefer it if there are no families who become officials in the province. But his career has been stuck, he has been in echelon III for a dozen years, moving positions," said Dimyati.
The deputy governor also emphasized that he often rejected the request of other relatives who wanted to move to the Banten Provincial Government.
"There are families in districts and cities, I forbid moving to the provinces. I said, continue to serve in their respective regions. So there is no family element in this position," he said.
He emphasized that his moral responsibility is now getting tougher because he has a double burden: ensuring all officials, including his younger siblings, work professionally and are free from irregularities.
"My burden is also big. I have reminded you, be vigilant, don't be corrupt, don't play games. Especially in Bapenda, the revenue target must be achieved," he asserted.
Dimyati said that the inauguration process for officials this time was carried out transparently and involved various elements.
This is the result of good coordination from the Baperjakat team. The process is through an assessment of positions, rank, assessment, fit and proper test, to a complete study. We only finalize the results that are in accordance with the rules," he said.

He emphasized that professionalism and performance are the main keys in filling positions within the Banten Provincial Government.
"If the target is not achieved, get ready to be evaluated. If you don't work well, just remove it. Because for me, the position is not a gift, but a responsibility," he said.
According to Dimyati, the rotation and promotion of officials is part of the merit system implemented by the Banten Provincial Government to strengthen performance-based bureaucracy.
"The important thing is that the rank and performance (PDRT) are good. Everything is considered objective," he said.
He hopes that the newly appointed officials, including Raden Berli Rizki Nata Kusumah, can immediately adjust and accelerate the realization of regional development programs.
"Hopefully everyone can work optimally and move quickly. We will evaluate it in six months," said Dimyati.
