DPRD Asks DKI Provincial Government To Have A Detection System For The Use Of Social Assistance For Judol

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Rani Mauliani, encouraged the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to build a digital surveillance system to detect misuse of social assistance funds (bansos), especially those distributed to beneficiaries.

According to Rany, the misuse of social assistance for activities such as online gambling (judol) and online loans (pinjol) is a serious problem that needs to be anticipated immediately.

He assessed that this phenomenon is not only detrimental to the state, but also triggers social problems at the family and community level.

"Judol and Pinjol have become problems throughout Indonesia. We can't take it lightly," said Rany Monday, November 3.

Rany emphasized the importance of policy formulation so that Social Assistance is really utilized according to its objectives. He suggested that local governments prepare a tracking mechanism or monitor the use of aid funds in real time, so that potential abuse can be prevented from the start.

"Hopefully there will be a tracking mechanism," he said.

According to him, if it is proven that there are recipients who use social assistance funds to gamble online, the government needs to consider strict sanctions, including blocking aid recipient accounts.

Rany ensured that the DKI DPRD was ready to collaborate with the DKI Provincial Government and related institutions to strengthen the digitalization system for the distribution of social assistance. The goal is to make the distribution process more transparent and on target, as well as minimize the potential for misuse of public funds.

Previously, the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) noted that as many as 602,419 Jakarta residents were indicated to be involved in online gambling activities throughout 2024 with a transaction value of Rp3.12 trillion.

Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavandana revealed, of these, 15,033 of them were recorded as recipients of social assistance.

"There are 15,033 DKI Jakarta residents as recipients of social assistance who are included in the list of online gambling players for the period 2024. The total nominal number of judol transactions from this group is IDR 67 billion in 397 thousand transactions throughout 2024," Ivan explained, some time ago.
