The Yogyakarta Palace Expresses Deep Condolences For The Death Of The King Of PB XIII

YOGYAKARTA - Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat expressed his deep condolences for the death of Sampeyan Dalem Tingkang Sinuhun Kangjeng Susuhunan Paku Buwono XIII from the Surakarta Hadiningrat Kasunanan Palace. The deceased passed away on Sunday 2 November or coincided with 11 Jumadiwal Dal 1959 at the age of 77.

KRT Purwowinoto, Penghageng II Kawedanan Purwa Aji Laksana Keraton Yogyakarta explained, shortly after the sad news was received, the Yogyakarta Palace came with a dalem envoy from the Surakarta Hadiningrat Kasunanan Palace.

"The sign of Dalem was received by GKR Mangkubumi and GKR Bendara at the Ndalem Kilen Hall, the Yogyakarta Palace complex," said KRT Purwowinoto in an official statement, Monday, November 3.

The envoy brought an official letter containing a sad notification addressed to Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X. "Their presence aims to convey the official sad news to Ingkang Sinuwun HB X through a written letter," he said.

According to KRT Purwowinoto, the body of Sinuhun Paku Buwono XIII will be buried in Pajimatan Imogiri, Bantul, on Wednesday (5/11/2025). "We are still waiting for dawuh from Ingkang Sinuwun HB X regarding who will be sent to attend the funeral procession," he added.

As a form of respect, the Yogyakarta Palace canceled the Srimanti Package tour stage and did not sound the gamelan until the funeral ceremony was over. In addition, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X also sent a bouquet of condolences to the Surakarta Hadiningrat Kasunanan Palace.

The death of Paku Buwono XIII leaves deep sorrow for the extended family of Kasunanan Surakarta and the Javanese people in general. His figure is known as a leader who is wise and consistent in preserving the traditions and noble values of Javanese culture.
