All Urban Villages In Jakarta Now Have Free Legal Aid Posts

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government officially has Legal Aid Posts (Posbankum) in all sub-districts/Diah-VOI

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government officially has Legal Aid Posts (Posbankum) in all urban villages. This free legal service facility was inaugurated by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung with the Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Supratman Andi Agtas on Friday, October 31.

With this inauguration, as many as 297 Kelurahan Posbankum in all areas of Jakarta have been fully operational and ready to serve people who need non-cost legal assistance.

Pramono explained that the existence of Posbankum would be an important part of the public service system at the village level. According to him, legal services are still an aspect that has not been touched evenly, especially for low-income people.

"The presence of Posbankum, this Legal Aid Post, will significantly affect it and then I will ask all of our urban villages to make this Posbankum really effective in running in the field," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, October 31.

He assessed that the existence of Posbankum complements the structure of public services that have been carried out by various operational forces of the DKI Provincial Government, such as Orange, Blue, and Green Troops.

"If this is possible, then actually everything in Jakarta up to below has been taken care of. Why is that? Yesterday I launched the White Forces, the number is 584. So these people then served for it. It is more humane," said Pramono.

According to him, Posbankum is here as a form of government attention to citizens who have difficulty getting access to justice. Pramono added that the formation of hundreds of Posbankums was part of the transformation of Jakarta to an inclusive and social justice global city.

"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government expresses its gratitude and gratitude for the establishment of 267 Posbankum so that it will be in every kelurahan and it will complement all existing infrastructure in Jakarta. This will strengthen Jakarta as a Global City and as the capital city. Hopefully it will have a direct impact on the community," he said.

Continuing, Minister of Law and Human Rights Supratman Andi Agtas said the existence of 267 Posbankum facilitated by local governments would make it easier for residents to access legal consultations, including assistance to court proceedings.

"With the Governor facilitated the establishment of Legal Aid Posts (Posbankum) in all urban villages throughout Jakarta, there are 267. Although it seems that the number is small compared to other provinces, DKI is with an extraordinary population because everyone gathers," said Supratman.

"Hopefully, by facilitating the establishment of Posbankum, it will be easier for people to get access to services in terms of consultations so that if they are forced to go to court, there will be a forum," he continued.

All Posbankum services are provided free of charge for the poor. The central government is also working with 52 accredited legal aid organizations in DKI Jakarta to provide guaranteed legal assistance.

"Everything is free, if there are people who need services in the future, we have cooperation with legal aid organizations, there are 52 legal aid organizations that we help in DKI Jakarta have been accredited, that is one case from the Ministry of Law, we help Rp5 million for the poor," said Supratman.
