Ummat Besutan Amien Rais Party Invites The Nation To Take Care Of Reforms That Have Begun Since 1988

JAKARTA - Commemorating 23 years of reform, the Ummat Party invites all, especially millennials, to take care of reforms that have been started since 1998 that allow Indonesians to enjoy a democratic climate until now.

The democratization that has been running and enjoyed since 23 years ago creates a positive climate for the growth of free speech and the fight against collusion, corruption and nepotism.

But the Ummat Party sees the decline in the quality of democracy since the last seven years with the massive silencing of free speech using the ITE Law that led to hundreds of activists being arrested and imprisoned.

In the previous era the ITE Act was never used to silence free speech because of its purpose to regulate traffic and security of electronic transactions in today's digital age.

"Clearly this is a betrayal of reform. Democracy cannot be built on the silencing of freedom of speech under any pretext," Ummat Party PUBLIC RELATIONS Mustofa Nahrawardaya asserted.

Mustofa continued as a party that invites all children of the nation to fight injustice and uphold justice, ummat party is obliged to correct the course of democracy that is getting off the rails.

Justice, Mustofa said, can only be upheld if all children of the nation get equal treatment before the law.

'That's what's not happened in the last seven years. Pro-government buzzers are protected, those critical of the government are criminalized, arrested, then put in jail. There is no democracy like this anywhere in the world."

Not only that, says Mustofa, social media activists not only get intimidation from buzzers with inhumane dirty cries, but also their accounts are attacked, hacked and deactivated.

"We cannot allow this kind of injustice to continue to happen because it will be a very bad lesson for our nation going forward. All the children of the nation must speak for what they are. We have to correct the course of reform," Mustofa said.

Reformation Reflections

In commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of the reform of the Ummat Party also held a reflection by presenting Mr. Reformasi Amien Rais who is also the Chairman of the Assembly syuro Ummat Party.

Amien Rais is scheduled to talk about the course of reforms that will be responded to by a number of other sources. This reflection event, said Mustofa, is a halal bi halal ummat party event that is made into one.

Reformed Documentary Films

The 23rd anniversary of the reform was also enlivened by the plan to make a documentary about the reforms that will be directed by the Ummat Party film team.

Ummat Party Chairman Ridho Rahmadi said the documentary had two purposes. First, to provide the necessary information to millennials who are not experiencing the reform event directly.

Second, he continued, to provide a correct understanding of misinformation received by some circles.

"Film is a very appropriate medium for conveying information. The film was chosen because the main target of this film is millennials and some generation Z. We hope after watching this film they become aware of the history of their nation and increasingly love the homeland," ridho said.

Ridho said filmmaking materials such as clippings, books, film pieces, and other materials are quite complete in the collection of Ummat Party.

"Just add with the latest material in the form of interviews, God willing this will be an interesting film and inspire the younger generation. Without understanding history, the younger generation will not be able to love the nation and its country," concluded Ridho.
