PATI - The Pati Police, Central Java, have deployed 3,379 joint personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to secure the plenary session of the right of inquiry at the Pati Regency Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), scheduled for Friday, October 31st.
As a demonstration of readiness, a roll call of troops from the BKO Dit Samapta (Special Forces Unit), the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob), and the Central Java Regional Police (Polda) was held at the Pati Brimob Company Field on Thursday, November 30th.
"These thousands of personnel will be stationed at strategic points such as the DPRD area, the town square, and several areas with the potential for mass concentrations," said Pati Police Chief Senior Commissioner Jaka Wahyudi after leading the roll call, as quoted by Antara.
He expressed his appreciation to all personnel tasked with maintaining security.
"Welcome and thank you for your dedication in carrying out your duties responsibly, professionally, and with humanity," he said.
According to Jaka, the number of personnel will be adjusted to the potential crowds from both camps that will attend. However, he emphasized that the security approach will prioritize humane, not repressive, methods.
The City Police have also coordinated with the leadership of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) and the local government to arrange a security scheme, including separating the gathering points for pro- and anti-protesters.
"The pro-protesters will be on the south side of the DPRD, while the anti-protesters will be on the north side. This separation is important to maintain a conducive atmosphere," he said.
The DPRD building area will be sterilized and tightly guarded, while incoming protesters will undergo a barrier process and screening at several points.
Jaka reminded all personnel to remain vigilant against potential provocation. "We must be astute in reading the situation and not be easily provoked. Even the smallest mistake can have a major impact and go viral in the community," he said.
He also appealed to the public not to be easily provoked by uncertain issues. "We are brothers and sisters with the community. Let's maintain maturity, and don't let anyone be incited to commit anarchic acts," he said.
The Pati City Police confirmed that they would not conduct sweeps, but rather preventive patrols to maintain security and order.
"We want Pati to remain peaceful, safe, and conducive. We hope the plenary session will run smoothly and orderly," said Jaka.
