Wrong Incident Calls Prabowo's Name, Observer Of International Relations: Host Allegedly Using AI

The mistake in mentioning President Prabowo Subianto's name in the official ASEAN forum in Malaysia is suspected to be due to the technical negligence of the host. According to international political observer Teguh Santosa, this incident was not related to protocol coordination between Indonesia and Malaysia.

"The information I got was that the host was not an organic part of RTM and there were allegations of using ChatGPT or AI to collect data on the head of state," Teguh said in a statement, Monday, October 27.

Teguh, who is also the General Chair of the Indonesian Cyber Media Network (JMSI), said that it was not only Prabowo's name that was wrong, but also the PMs of Singapore and Thailand.

Although it seems trivial, he said, this incident has the potential to trigger a negative perception of the Indonesian public against Malaysia's seriousness in respecting the new government.

"If it is considered negligence of the official protocol, of course it can have an impact. But essentially, there is no bad intention from the Malaysian government," he continued.

He emphasized that under the leadership of Prabowo and Anwar Ibrahim, Indonesia's relationship "Malaysia is in the best and constructive phase. However, he reminded that inter-leading diplomacy alone is not enough.

Teguh, who is also an International Relations Lecturer at UIN Syarief Hidayatullah Jakarta, encourages strengthening public communication between ASEAN communities. He suggested that state visits be accompanied by informal agendas with media and social activists in destination countries. This is considered important to build a 'people-to-people contact' and strengthen cross-border understanding.

Furthermore, he assessed that this incident reflected changes in the face of Indonesia after Jokowi. Prabowo is present as a leader who actively brings global ideas to the diplomatic table," he said.

Regarding the long-term impact, Teguh said this incident would not leave any traces in bilateral relations. This is not a big issue. We must focus on substantial things such as diplomacy, borders, and migrant workers," he said.
