Palace Confirms President Prabowo Was Offered A Sogokan Of IDR 16 Trillion

JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi responded to the news about President Prabowo Subianto who was said to have been offered fantastic money. The value of the bribe reached USD 1 billion or around Rp. 16 trillion, but was rejected by the President.

"That's about it," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace, in his statement, Wednesday, October 23.

The news about President Prabowo's attempted bribery was previously revealed by the Presidential Special Envoy for Climate and Energy, Hashim Djojohadikusumo. Prabowo's younger brother shared this in the commemoration of the 1st Anniversary of the Golden Indonesian Community Forum, on Saturday 18 October.

During the event, Hashim admitted that he got a live story from Prabowo a few months ago. At that time, Hashim was at home reading a book when he received a call from his brother.

"I just want to tell you, I just want to be bribed by people," said Pak Prabowo. I asked, how much was it taken? One billion rupiah, it turns out to be one billion dollars, "said Hashim.

Hashim added that the incident showed that there were parties who dared to try to influence the President's policy in an inappropriate way.

"People are reckless, our president wants to make 1 billion dollars," he added.

However, until now it is not known who the party tried to give the bribe, nor in what context the offer was made.
