18 MTS Students And Teachers In Malang Poisoned After Eating Free Nutritious Foods

A total of 18 people consisting of 16 students and two teachers from MTS Al-Khalifah, Cepokomulyo Village, Kepanjen District, Malang Regency, were rushed to the emergency room (IGD) of the Kanjuruhan Hospital, Thursday, October 23 afternoon.

Dozens of victims are suspected of having food poisoning after eating dishes from the free nutritious food program (MBG) provided at school.

Public Relations of the Kanjuruhan Hospital, Lukito Condro, confirmed the incident. He said the patients came with various symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.

"At 11.30 WIB came to the ER at the Kanjuruhan Hospital as many as 16 students and 2 teachers from MTS Al-Khalifah Cepokomulyo Kepanjen with complaints of nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain," he said, Thursday, October 23.

According to Lukitony, the condition of all patients is now stable. However, it is still under medical observation by the medical team. "Everything is in good condition, we will observe for three to six hours. If conditions improve, they are allowed to return home," he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang District Health Office (Dinkes) Wiyanto Wijoyo also confirmed the alleged poisoning case. His party has taken quick steps by tracing food sources and securing MBG samples for examination in the laboratory.

"Yes, according to the procedure, we immediately secured the MBG sample presented at the school," he said.

The Health Office medical team was also dispatched to the location to monitor the condition of the victims for the next few hours. "They are still checking. Their condition is good, monitored for 3 to 6 hours. If it improves, they can be sent home," concluded Wiyanto.
