JAKARTA - The International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair (ISRMWR) officially opened the International Diabetic Lower Extremity Symposium 2025 in Bali, October 22–23, 2025. Held under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) framework, the event serves as an important forum for global health experts to discuss the prevention and treatment of chronic diabetic wounds, a significant health challenge facing the region today.
The symposium was attended by Kevin Xu, President of ISRMWR and Chairman of the Board of MEBO Group, who shared insights on medical innovation, cross-border collaboration, and global health governance. Following the Bali event, Kevin Xu will continue his role as a keynote speaker at the 2025 APEC Summit in South Korea on October 28-31, 2025.
“Health is the foundation of economic development. Through APEC, we are not only strengthening cooperation between countries but also ensuring more equitable access to medical technology and healthcare resources,” said Kevin Xu, President of ISRMWR.
As a three-term strategic partner of APEC, Xu emphasized the importance of medical resource-sharing mechanisms to address global medical challenges such as burn treatment, chronic wound management, and disaster response. He also highlighted the role of companies in supporting regional governance through technological innovation, research investment, and medical talent development.
“Global collaboration is essential to address chronic diseases like diabetic foot ulcers. This meeting in Bali is an important symbol of the synergy between science, technology, and humanity in the Asia-Pacific,” added Kevin Xu.
At this event, MEBO presented several expert physicians from Harvard Medical School as speakers on topics including "Clinical Aspects of the Diabetic Lower Extremity" and "Developing a Diabetic Foot Team," to strengthen participants' understanding of these issues. Also attending was Dr. Heri Setyanto, Sp.B, FINACS, Chairman of the Indonesian Surgeons Association (PP PABI).
Also in attendance was PT Combiphar President Director Michael Wanandi, who stated that MEBO Group has collaborated with Combiphar as a strategic partner in Indonesia since 2013. This collaboration has helped strengthen wound care efforts by optimally distributing regenerative wound care technology in Indonesia.
"We certainly hope that the synergy that has been ongoing between Combiphar and Mebo can continue to run smoothly, especially with positive public education and the development of MEBO products, which are already widely used in national healthcare facilities. This is expected to bring long-term benefits such as increased medical research capacity, healthcare worker training, and academic collaboration between ISRMWR, the MEBO Group, and medical institutions and universities in Indonesia," concluded Michael Wanandi.
