Not Only Maintaining Security, Catholic Personnel From The Kaltara Police Also Serve In The Church Altar

TANJUNG SELOR In the midst of the task of maintaining security and order, a number of personnel from the North Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kaltara) showed another side of their service: serving the people during the Christian Mass celebration at the Santa Maria Assumpta Cathedral Church, Tanjung Selor, Sunday (19/10/2025).

With great joy, the Catholic personnel of the Kaltara Police acted actively as liturgical officers and koor fillers in sacred celebrations led by Pastor Markus. Not only that, several personnel from the Polda and Polresta Bulungan also became the core service team after undergoing intensive training to ensure solemn worship.

"This activity is a tangible manifestation of the spirit of service for Polri members, that they are not only present to maintain public security, but also serve with heart in the community," said Head of Public Relations of the Kaltara Police, Kombes Pol. Budi Rachmat.

During the celebration of the krema Mass, three personnel of Bripdamenmenmenmen Manglalan, Bripda Tomy Hendrik, and Bripda Serphine Octavia Hamijoyo received Strengthening Sacremaries as a sign of maturity in Catholic faith.

The presence of Catholic personnel from various regions ranging from the Tarakan Police, Nunukan, Malinau, to Tana Tidung (KTT) adds to the solemnity of worship as well as strengthens brotherhood across units.

"This is proof that members of the National Police also have an active spiritual life. They are not only protectors and physical protectors, but also present as fellow people who are ready to serve," added Kombes Budi.

The Kaltara Regional Police emphasized their commitment to continue to support religious freedom for all its members. According to Budi, respect for the beliefs of each personnel is part of the human values that are upheld by the Police.

"Religious freedom is an important pillar of national life. We want members of the National Police to grow into a whole, professional, and religious person," he concluded.
