JAKARTA - PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) affirms its commitment to ensuring the quality of fuel oil (BBM) produced through a series of rigorous laboratory tests, to ensure that each product meets the specified specifications. Meanwhile, the quality test of fuel products is carried out in all refineries, one of which is in Cilacap, Central Java.

General Manager of Cilacap Refinery, Wahyu Sulistyo Wibowo explained that the facility produces various types of fuel, ranging from Perta Series, solar, avtur, to the latest products, namely Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) or environmentally friendly fuels based on crude oil for airplanes.

Wahyu explained, before being thrown into the market, the fuel products were tested first in the internal laboratory certified by the Cilacap Refinery and the testing was included in determining the Research Octane Number (RON) at gasoline and Centane Number fuel for gasoil type bbm.

He said the test was carried out using the CFR (Cooperative Fuel Research) machine which is an international standard tool used to test fuel resistance against knockout, especially to determine the number of octane (RON) and number of demons (Cetane Number).

"This engine works by simulating the conditions of burning inside the vehicle engine, including pressure, temperature and strict compression ratios, so that the results can be used to ensure the quality of fuel according to standards," Wahyu said in his statement, Sunday, October 19.

He added that all products tested in the laboratory were ensured with good quality, and could even exceed standard specifications.

For example, for Pertalite products that have a standard RON 90, laboratory test results can show a figure of 90.1 or 90.2 and if the results are below the standard, then testing will be repeated to the quality according to the provisions.

"So the lowest RON is 90 according to the standard, it should not be less but can be above it. We have never sold fuel to the public with lower than the specified specifications," he said.

Wahyu also assured the public that the fuel produced by KPI is safe to use, because it has gone through a rigorous processing and supervision process.

"All products that we produce are guaranteed quality, according to the specified specifications so that they are safe for use by the community," he said.

In addition to internal laboratory tests, KPI also conducted further testing at independent institutions, one of which was the LEMIGAS Oil and Gas Testing Center (BBPMGB), which was conducted from August to September.

Wahyu said the test results from LEMIGAS showed that all KPI processed fuel products met the standards set by the Decree of the Director General of Oil and Gas of the Earth, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The products tested at LEMIGAS include Pertalite, Pertamax, Pertamax Turbo, Pertadex, Biosolar and Avtur fuel or aircraft fuel.

"The results of this test prove that the processing process at KPI remains optimal and produces energy products that comply with national standards," concluded Wahyu.
