JAKARTA - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) sent ships from Abu Dhabi carrying 7,200 tons of humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip.

The shipment contained 4,680 tons of staple food supplies, 2,160 tons of material for the construction of houses, tents, and winter clothing, as well as 360 tons of medical supplies and four water tanks.

As reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Saturday, October 18, since the start of the current crisis in the Gaza Strip, the UAE has delivered more than 10 ships carrying humanitarian aid, which were dismantled at the port of El Arish in Egypt or Ashdod port in Israel.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi, Emir Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a comprehensive document on the Gaza ceasefire.

On the same day, the Palestinian Hamas movement released 20 surviving hostages who have been held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, as part of an agreement with Israel.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Media Office confirmed Israel had released 1,718 Palestinian prisoners detained in Gaza and 250 other inmates serving a long-term prison sentence.

Over the past week, Hamas handed over nine of the 28 hostages' bodies to Israel.

The Gaza peace plan, which consists of 20 points of provisions from Trump, was announced on September 29. The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire, on the condition that the hostages are released within 72 hours.

The document also proposes that Hamas or other Palestinian armed factions have no role in the Gaza Strip government and control over the enclave should be transferred to a technocratic committee overseen by Trump's international body.
