Trump Talks With Putin Ahead Of Zelensky's Visit Today

JAKARTA - United States President Donald Trump said he had had a long conversation with his Russian partner Vladimir Putin, on Thursday, the day before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky planned to visit the White House today.

President Trump confirmed that he had spoken with President Putin in social media posts during the discussion.

"This conversation is still ongoing, long, and I will report its contents, as will President Putin, eventually," President Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

President Zelensky will meet President Trump to push for more military support, as Kyiv and Moscow escalate their war with massive attacks on the energy system, while NATO has difficulty responding to a spate of Russian airstrikes.

Ukraine is trying to obtain a US Tomahawk long-range missile, which will put Moscow and other major Russian cities within missile fire range from Ukraine.

President Trump said he could supply the weapons to Ukraine if President Putin fails to come to the negotiating table.

The Republican politician has pledged to end the war, expressing his growing frustration against the Kremlin Leaders over the continuing attacks.
