KKB Burns School Building Again In Kiwirok Mountains Bintang

JAYAPURA - Head of the Cartenz Peace Task Force Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani said the KKB had set fire to the school building again in Sopamikma Village, Kiwirok District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua Mountains.

The school burning was carried out by the Armed Criminal Group of Kodap XV Ngalum Kupel on Monday (13/10) morning.

"Previously, Tuesday (7/10) the KKB also burned the building in Kiwirok Middle School which is no longer used as a place for teaching and learning," said Faizal as quoted by ANTARA.

According to him, the Kiwirok State Junior High School building has not been used since 2021.

"As a result, students are currently studying at SMP Oksibil, which is in the capital of the Bintang Mountains Regency," said Brigadier General Faizal.

According to him, when members went to the crime scene there was a gun battle, causing KKB members to flee towards Kotobib Village.

After making sure it was safe, the joint TNI-Polri team visited the refugees at the Polobakon Village Hall to provide security.

"The TNI-Polri will continue to take preventive and law enforcement steps against groups that threaten public security and tighten entry and exit routes to the district to prevent further action," said Head of the Cartenz Peace Task Force.
