JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto did not visit Israel after attending a meeting on the Gaza Strip in Egypt.

Earlier, The Times of Israel on Monday said President Prabowo would visit Israel after attending a meeting in Egypt.

Citing an unnamed source, the media said President Prabowo would be Indonesia's first leader to come to Israel.

Presiden Prabowo diketahui terbang ke Mesir pada Miggu malam untuk mengikuti Konferensi Tinggi (KTT) Per Peace Sharm El-Sheikh pada Senin 13 Oktober.

The Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta, Monday afternoon informed that the Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft carrying the Head of State and a limited group arrived at around 07.00 local time.

At this summit, President Prabowo plans to witness the signing ceremony of the peace agreement and the termination of the war in Gaza.

"President Prabowo's invitation at the Sharm El-Sheih Summit shows Indonesia's important role in encouraging the creation of peace in the Middle East region, especially the Gaza conflict," said a statement from the Presidential Secretariat.

In addition, this is also proof of Indonesia's commitment to creating world order as mandated at the opening of the 1945 Constitution.
