JAKARTA Head of the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) Haikal Hasan met with DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at DKI Jakarta City Hall.

During the meeting, Haikal asked small culinary business actors in Jakarta such as warteg, coffee shops, and soto stalls to immediately take care of halal certificates.

"Warteg-warteg Pak including Warsun, Warteg, Warung Betawi, Soto-soto, Soto Kudus, Rawon, Warmindo, Warung Kopi, everything is free to get a halal certificate. So it's just a matter of will," said Haikal, Monday, October 13.

Haikal explained, registration of halal certificates can now be done easily through a BPJPH online system called Halal Max.

Business actors simply enter data on names, ID cards, and Business Identification Numbers (NIB) to carry out self-declare or independent statements, which will then be verified by the assistant.

"Entering our system, the halal one. Halal Max. Enter. You can crowd directly, fill in your name, ID card, and NIB. It's self-declare finished. (Within) 1x24 hours (it's already) halal," said Haikal.

According to him, Jakarta has the opportunity to become the most orderly city in implementing halal product guarantees. He even assessed that the capital city is ready to host international events such as the ASEAN Halal Council in the future.

"I think Jakarta will win. Because it is the most orderly, the most disciplined, and that's what we hope for," he said.

Haikal emphasized that the obligation to halal certification has now become mandatory after being strengthened through Government Regulation Number 42 of 2024.

In total there are around 60 million business actors in Indonesia, and 20 percent of them are engaged in the culinary sector, which is a priority for the implementation of halal certification.

"As of today, the total product circulating in Indonesia and having received a halal certificate has reached 9,500,000 products consisting of 2,600,000 entrepreneurs," he explained.

Continuing, Pramono said that the DKI Provincial Government has been collaborating with BPJPH for a decade. Until 2025, Jakarta has facilitated more than 15 thousand halal certifications for micro and small business actors.

"For information, until 2025 we have been working with this halal body for approximately 10 years. We have obtained a halal certification facilitation of 15,837," said Pramono.

Pramono targets thousands of business places in Jakarta to receive halal certificates by 2026. "Hopefully this year we will get approximately 5,000 more," he concluded.
