JAKARTA PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) emphasized that all crossing services in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region will continue to run normally and safely despite the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in East Flores Regency.
ASDP President Director, Heru Widodo, said that all ASDP operational branches in the NTT region, including Kupang and Labuan Bajo, continue to operate with strict supervision of marine weather conditions and the potential impact of the spread of volcanic ash.
"ASDP is ready to ensure that crossing services continue to run safely and efficiently. Even in a disaster situation, we remain committed to maintaining connectivity and providing the best service for the community," Heru said in a written statement in Jakarta, Saturday, October 11.

Mount Lewotobi Men erupted on Friday morning, October 10, with eruptions as high as 600 meters, amplitude 10.5 mm, and duration 140 seconds. However, ASDP ensures that strategic crossings remain operational, including the Labuan Bajo 'Sape (NTB) Cross, which is a vital node for logistics movement and interprovincial mobility in eastern Indonesia.
ASDP Corporate Secretary, Shelvy Arifin, said that the Labuan Bajo 'Sape route continues to serve daily crossings with a scheduled departure at 10.00 WITA, using the KMP Cakalang and KMP Cucut fleets.
"We continue to monitor the direction of the spread of volcanic ash and sea weather conditions, as well as coordinate with related parties so that all crossing activities take place safely and on time," explained Shelvy.
The Important Role Of Strategic Crossing
Based on ASDP data for the period January to September 2025, the Labuan Bajo 'Sape route has served 24,964 passengers and 11,555 vehicles, with the majority in the form of two-wheeled vehicles (5,482 units) and private cars (2,968 units). This figure shows the crucial role of this route in supporting economic and tourism activities in eastern Indonesia.
In addition to these tracks, ASDP also operates a number of other strategic routes from Labuan Bajo Port, namely Labuan Bajo Waingapu, Labuan Bajo Rinca Island, and Labuan Bajo Jampea.
"The sustainability of this service strengthens our role in maintaining the stability of passenger and logistics flows in the Nusa Tenggara region and its surroundings," added Shelvy.
ASDP continues to coordinate with BMKG, Basarnas, and local port authorities to ensure ship readiness and marine navigation security across all operational routes. The company has also prepared a route diversion scenario when needed to ensure the distribution of logistics and community mobility remains smooth.
"We hope that the situation in East Flores will recover soon. ASDP will continue to be present to provide the best service and be part of efforts to maintain Indonesia's connectivity, especially when people need reliable transportation access," concluded Shelvy.
