Shooting Contact Occurs In West Papua And Bintang Mountains, One TNI Soldier Dies

Bintuni Bay There were two security incidents in the Papua region on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Based on the initial reports received, one of them involved gunfire at the North Muskona Task Force Post in Moyeba Village, North Moskona District, Teluk Bintuni Regency, West Papua.

According to information received at 15.30 WIT via voice message from the Head of Muskona District, Maryus Orocomna, the Yonif 410/Alugoro Regional Pamtas Task Force Post received gunfire from an unknown group.

In the initial report, it was stated that one TNI personnel was injured as a result of the incident. The identity of the victim and the current condition are still waiting for confirmation from the authorities.

In addition, a separate report stated that there had been a shootout between Battalion 753 soldiers and armed groups suspected of being the Free Papua Organization (OPM) in the Kiwirok area, the Bintang Mountains. In that incident, one TNI officer, Lieutenant Dua (Letda) Fauzi 'the graduates of the Military Academy in 2023' were reported to have died from gunshot wounds to the head.

Until this news was published, there had been no official statement from the TNI or the security forces regarding the two incidents. However, all units in the surrounding area have reportedly increased vigilance in order to anticipate potential further disturbances.

Authorities are expected to immediately provide clarification and the latest developments regarding the security situation in West Papua and the Bintang Mountains.
