This time, he is suspected of distributing methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana from the Salemba Rutan, Central Jakarta, by using the Instant Zangi messaging application to coordinate transactions. The Metro Jaya Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate arrested Ammar Zoni with five colleagues with the initials A, AP, AM alias KA, ACM, and MR on Wednesday (9/10/2025) night. From the raid, the police confiscated 50 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 1 kilogram of synthetic marijuana, and several communication devices.

"Ammar Zoni uses his cellphone and Zangi application to communicate with buyers and couriers outside the detention center," said Pol Kombes Situmeang, Director of Drug Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya.

Investigators explained that Zangi's encrypted communication made messages difficult to access, even by service providers.

"This application was chosen because the encryption is very strong and has minimal metadata," added Mitigation.

Zangi is a private messaging application developed by a company operating in Silicon Valley, United States.
