Unloading Circulation Of Methamphetamine In Garut, Police Investigate Suppliers From Jakarta

JAKARTA - The Garut Resort Police (Polres) is investigating a case of the circulation of methamphetamine in Garut Regency, West Java, which has been known to be supplied by a network of dealers from the Jakarta area.

"Currently, the Garut Police Narcotics Unit is still developing the network of narcotics origin," said Head of the Garut Police Narcotics Investigation Unit AKP Usep Sudirman in Garut, Thursday, confiscated by Antara.

He said that the Garut Police had succeeded in uncovering the misuse and circulation of methamphetamine, along with arresting two people who were carrying the goods in Nagrak Village, Jati Village, Tarogong Kaler District, Garut Regency, Wednesday, October 8.

The two people who were arrested, he said, were the initials SS (41) a resident of Tarogong Kaler District, and the woman with the initials N (34) a resident of Pasirwangi District, Garut Regency, along with evidence of 24 packages of methamphetamine ready for distribution or 9.49 grams.

Furthermore, the police also secured evidence of digital scales, suction devices, plastic clips, duct tape and cell phones used by the two perpetrators for drug transactions.

"From the results of the examination, perpetrator N admitted that he got the illicit goods from someone with the initials D, a resident of Cipinang, DKI Jakarta," he said.

He conveyed that the case that was revealed in the Garut area would continue to be developed to dismantle the network and distribution flow from Jakarta to Garut.

The police, he continued, will continue to be committed to eradicating drug trafficking and taking firm action against the perpetrators according to the applicable legal rules as a step to save the nation's generation from drugs.

"This is our commitment to protect the younger generation from the dangers of drugs," he said.

The two arrested perpetrators are now languishing in the Garut Police Detention Center for further legal examination and are charged with Article 112 paragraph 1, 2 in conjunction with Article 114 paragraph 1, 2 in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of a maximum imprisonment for life.
