Chairman Of The Special Autonomy Acceleration Committee: Prabowo Pays Great Attention To Papuan Development

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Papua's Special Autonomy Development Velix Vernando Wanggai said President Prabowo Subianto paid great attention to direct and integrated development management in Papua.

"Mr. President has made a strong commitment to directly handle, manage Papua. Managing Papua is of course in a comprehensive agenda, which is integrated both on the Papua agenda in a global context, in a national context, integration between cross-ministerial, privacy policies as well as consolidation to the provincial and district levels," Velix said at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 8.

Velix said his agency would oversee eight major agendas within the framework of Papua's contextual ideals, which include political, economic, infrastructure, and government development.

In addition, Velix also explained that this new institution that has members with diverse backgrounds will also take care of various socio-cultural aspects ranging from sports, gender equality, to the creative economy for the development of Papua.

"The state must be present to touch our brothers and sisters on the beaches, mountains, hinters and swamps so that everyone feels the presence of the state," he said.

The Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development in Papua will also act as a coordination bridge between the central government and six provinces in Tanah Papua, ensuring that all development programs run synergically and have a real impact on the Papuan people.

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the chairman and nine members of the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development in Papua at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday.

The inauguration of the committee chaired by Velix Vernando Wanggai is based on the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia (Keppres) Number 110/P of 2025 concerning the Appointment of the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development for Papua.
